How's the spearing off ft Walton?
Relocating back to Florida. Going to be working in shalimar, probaly buy a house in crestview.
Been gone from Florida for 4 years now (lived in Colorado, currently Atlanta). From the Clearwater area, and always had a boat when there. Use to go out with different guys there I met from here. Would go as far as the middle grounds, and did dives up to 130ft. Only did tank dives. How is the diving in my area going to be? How far out and deep do you have to go? Is there a lot of people in my area that go out and split gas, etc? Was so many people in the st Pete area, didn't really even need my own boat. Thanks- Matt |

Re: How's the spearing off ft Walton?
How's it going man, Ft. Walton spearing (Destin-Pensacola) is pretty good. You can expect to run anywhere from 1 mile off the beach to 20-30 miles in some areas. A lot of good wrecks and artifical reefs in the area. Average depth is going to be 80-130ft. There's a good bit of spearos in the area, a lot of them are military. Usual fish are gonna be red/mangrove snapper, gag/scamp/red grouper, amberjack, with a few other species mixed in. Most people anchor up, I prefer to live boat and have a marker buoy. Some of our best spots are private chicken coops/reefs that are only 20' x 20' or smaller. Expect anywhere from 5' vis to 100'. Averaging around 20-40ft. Welcome back to Florida, should be easy to find guys since you already have a boat and experience.
