Ventura Report 3/21/09 - Emma Wood Beach

Date: 3/21/09
Time started: 1:30 pm
Time ended: 3:00 pm
Location: Emma Wood kelp beds
Water Temp: 55
Air temp: 61-63
Visability: 1' - 5'
Swell: <1'
Tide: Extreme Low
Catch: non taken

Misc. notes: First time I dove this spot, thanks to WC Diver for helping me out! Spot has potential the tide just made the water WAY to silty, and therefore the vis SUCKED!

Get out there if you can, you never know when the big one is gonna come swimming by and you only live once

Cheers !

theres some excelent diving at emma wood during the summer months but the spot is almost imposable to get good vis but when the wind is down and the swell is down for a couple of days its a cool spot to dive.

Way north (west) of Leo Carillo. Emma Wood is west of Ventura, on the way to Santa Barbara. Take the 101 West past the Ventura exits and exit at State Beaches exit and you are there.

You can see the kelp beds from the freeway...

Re: Ventura Report 3/21/09 - Emma Wood Beach

Bottom was clear in certain areas, but 5' at most. I was just cruising along like a foot off the bottom hoping to come across a Hali or anything....

I bet it was clearer at High tide, but I'm not so sure. There was a pretty big swing today...
