I was wondering if there is a Melbourne Beach Hunt Club meeting tonight. If so, is it the usual time and place?
Thanks!! |

Actually we're working on the schedule for this month. The meeting will likely be at Sea Dragons, but the date is still TBD. Right now it's looking like our meeting might slip to the 3rd Monday this month.

Jim:
PM me about the meeting. I have confirmation from Mike for the shop. When I hear from you I will contact our potential speaker and see if we can finalize things. |

Re: Melbourne Beach Hunt Club Meeting
Is the change of location permanent or just for this meeting?

Re: Melbourne Beach Hunt Club Meeting
As far as I know it is just for this meeting. We wanted to have a change of pace and offer something different. It just takes more coordination to put all the pieces together that we are trying to assemble.

Re: Melbourne Beach Hunt Club Meeting
Please forgive the dumb question, but what is this meeting/club about? Can a couple new guys come? I would love to learn spearing, lob hunting, tips and such. Am interested in getting some helpful hunting info. Please respond if this is a private club or no or if me and a friend can come.
Thx much!! J |

Re: Melbourne Beach Hunt Club Meeting
Eric:
As of now, this month's meeting is still up in the air. The President, Jim Gillespie will be out of town and hopefully we can get something set up when he gets back. We tried to set up the meeting at a LDS, SeaDragons because we wanted to support the local shops and we wanted to accomplish 3 things: 1 introduce everyone to the latest dive mask technology with the different coatings they are using on masks such as; silvered, yellow, rose tints. We wanted everyone to have a good understand of what each will do for you underwater. 2. We were going to have a great lecture by Dr. Mike Ott who ran the Hyperbaric Chamber in Melbourne. It was going to be more of a hands on lecture with everyone able to ask questions about the different diving problems that affect us. The idea was to put everything in laymans terms so even idiots like me could understand. 3. Once a year I offer a free Nitrox certification course to any member of the club who is not Nitrox trained. The only prerequsite is that the person must have joined the club and paid his/her dues for the year before the class starts. We were going to get this course organized so we could have the class ASAP. The club is open to everyone, and as TropicalDiver said, we would love to have you come along and meet the people. Hopefully you will find it something you will want to join. To find out more about the club you can also contact Jim Gillespie at: jimgillespie@cfl.rr.com. We will get it all organized as soon as we can synchronize the schedules of the LDS, Mike Ott, Jim, etc. Last edited by OceanEd; 08-10-2005 at 07:13 PM. |
