Re: Hatch Custom Spearguns "Yacht Gun"
Sven, you sound like an accomplished gun builder yourself, maybe you could share some of your builds? roller builds? When I have a question about gun building, one of the people I ask and listen to is Phil. He has literally done it, tried it, and done a good job of it, 15 years ago. He's got his opinion, but it's an informed one.
Anyways, there's no doubt this build by Mike Hatcher is freakin awesome. The tapers and blends, the balance. Very nice Mu Snipa.

Re: Hatch Custom Spearguns "Yacht Gun"
Just picked up a replacement GoPro, but I didn't have it for the last dive. Another beautifully accurate shot in the eye. Despite concerns, the gun just plain works. It'll be even better once it gets a step up in banding and a 5/16ths shaft. The requested loading footage will come soon.

Can't argue with that! Very cool to see guys that have the mind and skills to design and build guns like this.

I'm sure I'm probably missing something here, but why are there two pullies? Is that to ease the loading process? Do you lose power having two pullies rather than one? Seems like you could have one pulley that all the bands anchor to and would reduce the amount of the blue cord, less friction, and more simplicity BTW, love the concept, and it is a fantastic looking gun. Must feel awesome to be having such success with it |

Re: Hatch Custom Spearguns "Yacht Gun"
If you were to use a single pulley you'd have to run the line through it twice, in which case it wouldn't roll. You essentially need a pulley beneath each roller to accommodate both sides of the wishbone.

TVA, could you point me towards whoever sells those small pulleys? I can't find anything under 1" OD.
Thanks! |
