Was out yesterday afternoon at slack tide. Vis was pleasant 10-15ft south of Dume.

Weather window holding up through the evening and goes to crap tomorrow. Get out there! Lobster season ends soon.

Re: Malibu Conditions Permathread

Hey guys, I figured this wasn't worth starting a new thread, but I'm taking the family up to camp Leo Carrillo Sunday 8/26-8/29. How are things up there and how should I pack for diving? I have a 3mm and 5mm, and a 49" roller I use for most of my diving, but I have my 32" hole gun and 58" 3 band wsb/yt gun. I'm guessing my 49" and 3mm will work for now like it has been down here this summer? What should I expect to see shorediving the mornings there?

Surf forecast looks to be nice and pretty flat like down here in SD and relatively blue on tempbreak, is that what you guys are seeing up there? Is the kelp still there or has the warm water killed it off yet?

Thanks for any help

Hi Xylophone!

I went out yesterday West of Pt. Dume. There was a little swell in the water, but not much. Viz wasn't great. 8' or so. Most of the kelp stringers have died off of the surface and were growing about 15' below the surface. Water temp varied between 71-74. Didn't see much life but that was mostly due to the viz. I was only wearing my 5mm top with trunks on the bottom. I took my hood off because I was too hot with it on. Definitely bring your gear and get out there! As you know, conditions can change quickly. Have fun!

Cool thanks, I'll bring my light and hole gun then just in case the viz craps out.
