I heard Obama was personally spearheading a new MPA to shut down all of Malibu and his next move is to ban all spearfishing in California. Did you hear the same?

Re: Malibu Conditions Permathread

A buddy and I are gonna hit Malibu tomorrow (Saturday - 1 Feb). Probably someplace north of the Big Rock area. Probably around 10am~ish. We hit it last weekend; we knew it was going to be shitty but we had fun anyway. Vis was terrible, but we love being in the water so it was all good.
If anybody else is gonna be out, let us know. PM me

Re: Malibu Conditions Permathread

Tried to dive two days ago in the morning, got out there with ryan at a spot in north malibu that is actually not also a surf spot, so it isn't known for producing good swell, it was at least head high coming in at less than 15 seconds apart. it was torn up. we did not get in.

Looks like crap and stirred up south of dume. North dume looks way smoother with little wind and better viz.

Re: Malibu Conditions Permathread

South Ventura was nice. Relatively calm and very workable conditions up to 15 - 20 ft of viz in certain areas. Had my biggest goat ever tear off, spooked a 18" cab, missed a nice Calico, shot an average size rockfish, and then a smaller rockfish that I took a blind shot on in to a hole...kinda bummed on it but whatever it'll get eaten. Took a few urchin and overall a nice day to be back in the water. Going out again in the AM and will post afterwards.

Re: Malibu Conditions Permathread

Looked pretty decent from the Malibu pier an hour ago.
Like at least 15ft but cloudy water.
