better watch out abalone cove is protected against taking some species. I'm not sure without looking it up but I believe pelagics like sea bass and YT are ok but someone will probably end up correcting me on this one.

That area is a good area for taking finfish. As far as no take I know it's crustaceans and plant life i.e. lobsters and crabs as for the boundaries I asked fish and game they've given me different lineups then the ranger out there. As far as one that MLPA coming in. It should still be open for spearfishing. Let's hope it doesn't go through.

Re: New to Spearfishing & Rancho Palos Verdes
There is a sign or two over at Abalone that says something about a few specific types of fish and to not eat them (Croaker i think?), but i am not sure exactly -- i will get a pic of it!
Abalone is a crustacean preserve, which encompasses the water all the way over to terranea/st Vicente point area. |

I'm gonna have to make friends with you brother. You're in the best location in the LA area for spearing. When shall I come over?

New as well to posting on the board but have been a lurker for some time. Live in LA and dive Malibu and PV consistently. Always looking for more people to get out with.
Did a couple hours south of Malaga this weekend in PV but could get a hold of anything. |
