The memory of a lifetime.

If you were there, you saw it, felt it, lived it. You were a part of spearfsihing history.
The spectacle that is the St. Pete Open went to a new level this year. The weigh-in was a spectacular show, the prize table was PHENOMENAL and the weather was, well, just about perfect. Huge grouper, record AJ and sheepshead and a location that was perfect for the event helped make this THE tournament by which all others will be judged. Four solid months of effort paid off.
Special thanks to all of the sponsors! They made the prize table THICK.

To those of you who may be wondering "OK, how will you top this?", I say...
You aint seen nothin yet! It gets better every year.
You think the prize table was thick THIS year? Just wait until next year. The sponsors loved all of the exposure. I think some will increase their sponsorships next year because the event was so successful.
I CAN tell you that the Billy Howell Ford lederboard was a HUGE HIT. Special thanks to Bill Howell for the suggestion and support. You see, at last year's tourney, it was hard to see the fish and there was no leaderboard. So Bill told me, right a the weigh-in, that he wanted to sponsor a leaderboard for the 2006 Open. Bill go a little bit of exposure with the lederboard. I hope you will all give him a shot when you are looking for a new ride. He will do shooters right.

Putting on such a large event can be very stressful... if you let it. I refused to stress out. In fact, I had the time of my life doing the tournament. I'm still grinning from it. Kinda corny, but you gotta stop ansd smell the roses or you will miss out on the pleasure of the journey.
I grew up throwing parties. It aint business. It's about guests and their enjoyment. I will remember this as the biggest party of my life, with well over 500 of the partiers being good friends of mine.

So now I have a little time on my hands. Maybe I should get back to work...
Nah.....

I third that! Thanks to all for such a great event. This was my first tournement and everyone on my boat had fun. Tonight we are going to eat my monster 4.9# snapper that won me a nice Armor Bag!

Are the total results anywhere on the web yet?

Great job Denny, Scott, Ritchie, and officers of the SPUCs as well as all volunteer SPUCs. Everyone had fun and that is the greatest measure of event success. Thanks for all your hard work!
