Re: going to marine street tomorrow
Should be.... There was some swell today, but the super low tide kept all the wash out a ways. At Marine St. Inside the surf zone should be good, I'd be interested to know how the vis was about 500 yards off shore, or about 30 - 100 yards outside of the reef. If the offshore southerly current is strong it should sweep the cloudy water away like a bad dream. It will all hinge on if the swell dies off more tomorrow.

For tides... this ought to help plan the time to hit the water. |

Re: going to marine street tomorrow
There are not too many sites that report vis, except individual reports you get from places like this. (you have to do a lot of lurking if you seek vis). Don't be too concerned with vis. Get wet when you can. You''l find that the tide is a lot more regular, and has a more regular affect on sea life than vis, and more still than current. At night, the Bugs tend to crawl on the incoming tide, but during the day, you will get better vis for fish if you splash at the onset of the outgoing tide. This clash will plague you for the rest of your days as a diver. You might lean towards one or the other simply based on your early successes as a bug diver, or fish slayer, which ever one happens to come together first.
Usually it happens with the vis and fish first, that's why there are sights called SPEARboard, vice Lobster board. But we true bug enthusiasts like it that way. You really meet the best of this sport at 3 in the morning at a cliff entrance, or reef head. Those are the people who know how to predict the activity of the ocean,(At least we try.) Also you might find all the fish you chase around the reefs during the day, conveniently hiding beneath the reef WITH THE BUGS, at the right times at night. Lastly, I've said too much. Hopefully you take this and truelly learn it for your self. If you do, you'll find I'm not misleading you. Take care of the reefs, and the bottom in general. It IS the last frontier.... |

Re: going to marine street tomorrow
Keep your eyes on the for sale threads or the barter thread. I bought a light from a guy on here a few months ago for a back up, for like 75 bucks. You don't always have to buy brand new. Most guys here wouldn't sell something that isn't functional.
