Neptonics Clutch

Has anyone had success using the Neptonics Clutch with float line other that the PVC type. E.g foam filled rope line. If so what is the minimum diameter that is required for the clutch to work properly and grip the line without it slipping.

Re: Neptonics Clutch

3/8 , you might be able to use 1/4 but you will get some slipping depending in the line used

Re: Neptonics Clutch

I've used several brands of hollow poly . And the orange foam filled type like neptonics and a couple other dealers sell . 5/16 will work also

Re: Neptonics Clutch

Will JBL float line work? They say it stretches some but will it work in the clutch?

Re: Neptonics Clutch

I will say it doesn't work well on full bungie float lines

They work great if you use the corectly size . The stock size works on the neptonics floatline and the thinner riffe bungie(1/2 loom) , you need to order the larger dia size for a tuna bungie(3/4 loom ). As far as I know he doesn't make it in the smaller dia foe the jbl line( 3/8 loom )

thanks Phil I was not aware. I got it to fit over my bungee just fine but when the line was stretched and I would start pulling the line the clutch would stick to the line and get stuck in the metal fitting.

Certan weaves of the cluch material may also be better for certan bungie materials , the neptonics bungie is a very soft ebdm ,and has a very ruff texture ,compared to mori, sturgil, riffe ,red triangle bungie . I originally desginedit to work with the mori bungie and a normal float line , I've never used it with a neptonics bungie, its definitely not one product fits all aplications

Re: Neptonics Clutch

I took my clutch to the LHS to try on the seavine 1 and had a problem getting the knot through. After all that we finally got it in and tried it and it slips it does not hold.

You need to use 3/8 loom for a seavine , the neptonics cluch is 1/2 loom .

You can get the 3/8 loom at frys and make your own

Going to use it for tuna, yellow tail etc here in San Diego waters. Been diving from 1993 till now on scuba but only two years freediving and not that much.
