making - re-usable - slip on powerheads

here is a link to my new you tube channel:
this is my powerhead construction video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJPhCKd-Gy0
there will be lots of new - how-to videos and pool tests to come
this is a link to an 18 minute video of how I build my slip on powerheads
I have had lots of experience with all different types of powerheads
- slip ons are the best choice for protection and for anyone who uses flopper shafts
they are re-loadable- they cost between $1.75 and $2.25- depending on which size round you choose
sources for the different materials:
metal tubes- home depot
fuel hose- west marine
quick cure 5200- west marine
bullets- (you are on your own there)
also- I forgot to include the proper lengths to cut the metal tubing=
3 1/4" for .45 cal
4 1/2" for .308
note- I am not telling you to make these- check your local laws
before you do- be safe and don't play around with these
this in an informational video - not an instructional one

if you like the video- show me some love and hit the" like" icon

Outstanding DIY video, thank you for taking the time to make and post this! Not to mention the quite comical one-liners in there! Thank you Sir!

Can you build me an over under gun, that not only has a 10 round clip of these power heads, but can shoot 30+ feet and follow up with a 25+ shooter.

Great video. I have never needed a power-head but always wanted one. I'm sure this has been asked before, are power heads considered a "firearm". In other words, is building a DIY power-head legal?

the firing pin is what's illegal
a slip on powerhead is just a bullet in a tube - the spear is the firing pin- so it's not illegal ANYWHERE as a slip on.
In florida - all powerheads are legal to have
they sell them on many websites
check out www.budsbangsticks.com- he makes and sells the ones WITH firing pins
slip ons are just a bullet in a tube
you cannot use them to hunt most fish - but for protection- you are golden

Re: making - re-usable - slip on powerheads

Very cool. Thanks for putting that together Jason, I'll watch again later without kids on lap. Will be nice to have something incase of emergency up here out there. When we do get sharks, they can be very large like 1000b Makos, GWS, Big Tigers, Oceanic White Tips, Large Hammerheads, Duskies, etc..

Got to watch that without bouncing baby. Very informative.

Here's some video from some of our Wahoo spots. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFYrti4rTZw

WOW! I'm coming up there next summer- it's a definate- you guys got some great blue water action! - seems like you need the .308 option - i was discussing- a .45 just pisses off 1000lb sharks - I suspect

I did not understand about the epoxy on the tip (with the tape and all). When do you need to pour epoxy and when is the 5200 good enough? thanks for making the video

Re: making - re-usable - slip on powerheads

Jason, if your up here we'll get you out. It's far and weather dependent, but when it's on. it's on. But it's the wild west out there. Hundreds of big fat Great Whites pass through that area on their way to the Seal buffet and while it's not always sharky, there is the possibility of running into something Jurassic.

I was thinking about making a few of these and the "If you jam it on you Blow your hand off" thing kept ringing in my mind. I don't know zip about power heads, but would a safety pin make a good addition? Could be fairly simple as long as it prevents the Shaft from engaging the Round. Any Clevis, Cotter, type pin with a Pull cord. I figured Orange so you would see clearly that it was either safe or live? We're 100 miles out, so any problem is a big problem. Probably not necessary.
