shark Shield in the Middle Grounds

A short video from a recent trip to the Middle Grounds. I never realized how powerful a shark shield is. I've gotten a few mild shocks, but nothing like this.

Looks like I swam right into Cuzza's electrodes.

Jim, that is f'ing hilarious. It's great to see both perspectives. In fact that's the first time I've seen video of myself diving. I'm over here dying laughing. Man, great day. Looking forward to diving with you again, amigo. Gonna catch some bugs soon!

Posting my video in this thread for posterity.

Hilarious!
Sharks wanted nothing to do with you two after they heard the screaming from the shock therapy being delivered!

Yeah by the time we got the fish from the stringers to the boat they were cooked already. Nice meeting you at the tournament.

edit:

Oh yeah, I like all my panicked hand swimming in CuzzA's video at 3:54 LOL

Hahaha thanks for sharing the vids and story. I accidentally zapped my cousin in the balls a few years ago, now he is bald.

Re: shark Shield in the Middle Grounds

Dan, I recall I had you dodging my SharkShield out there too, but nothing quite as colorful as this incident.

So I figured out a solution for this thing. I have a hole drilled in my fin and was using a loose zip tie, but the damn leash always kept falling out. I found these paracord bracelet breakaway clips that should solve the problem as I can tie each end. They're pretty small at 3/8" wide so it shouldn't add much drag and they should also break away if I got tangled on something. My fear is it snares something on the boat as I'm rolling over and I'm hanging off the gunwale like a damn fender.

I saw this on The Hull Truth the other day... Pretty gnarly. Sounds like the diver got ambushed on the back of the leg.

That's straight gore! Where was that? Could have been fatal wound. Neuron damage as well potentially. Bad spot. Hope diver does ok.

Fyi...I had to rescue this guy one time when his leg got chewed up by a prop. I used this for a tourniquet. The ring on the end came in handy.

Re: shark Shield in the Middle Grounds

That video was hysterical! JUST STOP!! Awesome.

I carry a couple tourniquets on the boat every time. I can get my hands on them with my job, but they are about $25 on Amazon. Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT) is the one I recommend. It’s easy to apply and works. Sof-T is another, but takes some practice to use, particularly under stress. Cord, belt, or band is ok in a pinch, but best to be prepared.

Re: shark Shield in the Middle Grounds

Update on the SS issue. The paracord qr clips weren't strong enough so I used a bigger 1/2" clip and it worked perfect. SS leash never touched me yesterday. I think I have a winner.
