Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Went out of ami on sunday. Viz was good, hazy tub in 45 but not fishy at all. Fish were in shallow. Surface water temp was 74, maybe 2 degrees cooler on bottom, but honestly it wasn't bad.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Buddy of mine went out yesterday to some spots I gave him 20 miles west of NPR. Rough trip but they did pretty damn well - that red grouper is 22", and that sherpa is a STUD.

He got mugged by my favorite bull shark at a spot I call Bullshaft - that's the place I had to shove a shaft in his mouth as he attacked me. I think he needs a PH to the noggin.

There is now a rare unicorn shark out in that general area. He did not appreciate the award given for being an asshole.

No way the swell earlier this week helped. I would imagine it's not ideal out there

LOL - was planning on going out Sunday, but only to hook-and-line. Too damn cold.

Out of St. pete. Not the worst but also not the best. water was still chilly about 67, and vis was good in the top 20ft, but about 10 on bottom in 50

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

I didn't personally get out but some of my friends made it out on Saturday March 18. They went out to Clearwater. Said they ran into a lot of grouper. They were diving in that 80 to 100 foot zone and said the visibility was about 50 feet and the temperature was in the mid 60s. Got some snappers and hogs.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Did some hook-and-line today 22 miles west of NPR on some of my favorite dive spots. Caught some grunts, gags, and AJ. Great water conditions, viz looked incredible - wish I had brought my dive gear.

Me and my friend Amanda were trolling and got away from our buoy. When we went back to it we couldn't find it, but saw a boat nearby with a dive flag up. It was named "Speara Vida" and they had found the buoy and graciously gave it back. Met Melody and she had just nailed a 40 pound cobia. Very nice lady and good to see fellow spearos out there.
