Re: LA FATHOMIERS 2018 club auction

Petros and Dave from SpearAmerica have put together a boat deal to bid on:
Both will head out with you for a private day trip to Catalina Island.

Wait a minute. This is a bit unclear. They will head out with you and provide the boat, or head out with you on your own boat?

Re: LA FATHOMIERS 2018 club auction

How long does the auction typically last? Unfortunately, I have a prior commitment that will take me until 815ish but I really wanted to go.

John: this we be run on Petros' boat, incl gas etc...
I'd strongly suggest that people ask for before bidding on things to figure out all the details.
Petros and Dave will be around so you can ask them! Hope to see you later today

The meeting starts at 7.30pm and I expect that the auction will begin shortly thereafter at around 7.45-8ish. Spearguns etc will be auctioned off towards the end of the auction (my best guess would be 9.30pm- 9.45pm), but no guarantees. We will see how things "flow"... Round Table Pizza closes at 10pm, so the auction/meeting will end at that time

Thanks for the clarification. Sounds like a great deal.

I hope guys take advantage of showing up as these are great opportunities to not only score on gear but mix it up with some great guys in the community. Having the chance to chat and learn from some great divers is one of the best ways to shorten the learning curve.

Good luck tonight, I'm grinding 100 hour weeks and will miss it

Dang, I'm actually heading over town tonight... I might make a cameo if I can talk my wife into it.

Would be great to see you there Juan! Just convince Jewely that she can get some gear as well (or drop off a hat )

Re: LA FATHOMIERS 2018 club auction

I made a quick stop by last night, and it was PACKED!!! Good job Fathomiers, looks like you guys put on a heck of an auction. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay long, let alone stick my fat ass through the door!

Re: LA FATHOMIERS 2018 club auction

Great meeting. Glad to see that there were tons of people there. I hadn't been to one of these in at least 7 or 8 years.

Too bad people couldn't take their conversations outside during the auction and almost everything had to be repeated 2-3 times, if not more.

Congrats to the double roller winner - fantastic looking gun!

What did the double roller go for?

I saw you and Jewely peaking in. Sorry had no chance to say hello cause I was busy keeping track of the auction items and bids up front. I'll have to say hi next time I am at the Isthmus.
Thanks for stopping by...we might need to look into a bigger venue next time

I totally agree with you and I felt like it was an overall really fun event, so thanks for stopping by and participating in the auction; hope you got your hands on some gear!
People do get excited and unfortunately, that translates into a lot of background noise in such a restricted venue. We had even more people than last year because our sponsors gave us fantastic gear for the auction.

On a related note: we will have more gear and guns available at the raffle for the 2018 Scramble Meet, the LA Fathomiers 50th Scramble will be held Saturday 8-18-2018.
