Re: Baja this Spring??

In the winter focus on the reef
Yellow tail are in now but most are deep
we got schooled 2x by small one on the surface
a few more weeks and they will be thick
hook and line we got 13 in one day, got to have the right boat, capt, and perfect dau with live bait.
Loreto talk to Rafa and the dolphine scuba shop for boats, buy your lic before you go on line
Mulege you have to dive with Alex buzo, FB him to reach him
He is the best
pole fish for 4 hours and the freedive for the last 6+ hours $250 4 people, bring your own food and water, plan for anything.

Re: Baja this Spring??

May is hot
everything should be around
should be able to hire a spearo guide for a couple day then go out on your own after that
normally go north
lots of reef , pinicals,....Chart out the island of Ildefanso off san Nicholas, hot diving there.
You might even want to gas up and camp over nights.
YT AJ are around for sure and Dorado are starting up, look for birds and kelp paddies for them.

Re: Baja this Spring??

Please advise. Doing Baja this summer. We will be primarily fishing the east cape but will be paying a visit to friends in Todos Santos. They are elderly non watermen and can’t answer my questions.
I know that swells and conditions can be rough on the pacific side during spring and summer months, but we’re considering taking a chance if we luck up on conditions.
My question is regarding the fishermen beach boat launch spot in Punta Lobos (option #1). Once upon a time, huge groups of fishermen would launch boats directly from the beach and activity was in and out. Last I saw, they were building beach houses and seem to have pushed the fishermen cartel out. Is this still the case? Anyone with recent eyes on this…Is this spot still accessible to the public for a shore dive launch? Or is access a gated community now?
Another possible launch spot would be Las Palmas down the road as a shore dive (option #2). Its that park you get to from the main paved road, then down a dirt road. I guess Las Palmas is a beach park. Thoughts on entry from there?
Last option would be entry where the mountain meets the water down the beach from the Cerritos surf shop (option #3).

So what’s my best chance? I plan to hit all 3 spots to see what works, but trying to do some homework to save time. I apologize for posting a google earth shot. Ill delete all this for those concerned. I just didn’t know how to best communicate what I needed to know. Thanks
