What's the deal with the half sunk boat. No motor, no numbers? Somebody was probably taking it out to sink it.

Got some nice gags and hogs in 35-45' NW of Anclote. Vis was 20+ in 45' and 15 in 35'. Is anyone else seeing these ARS in shallow? We saw 20"+ ARS all day as shallow as 35'. Never seen this in 20 years of diving the area...

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Looking to head out of Tampa Bay in the morning. Had planned to head out to do a 100' dive to start the day, but heard a rumor of a deep water current mucking everything up. According to the guy at World of Water, anything pass 60' is having bad vis. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

Yup - last two times we've been out have seen a LOT of ARS.

Earlier in the year we would see a couple in the 50-60' range but recently we're seeing respectable fish in good numbers on most of our dives in much shallower water. From what I've seen recently, it looks very possible to find some keeper fish in state waters while the state season is still open. Especially if running South.

I agree, ARS in close right now. But you would have to have some brass ones to bring them to the dock with a state water story in west central. JMO

Well, give it a try grey

Hopefully, this is an indication of that the rebound has reached a point that we can get more than 10 days in Fed water. But ARS is a political football in the state vs fed management game. Still hope it makes a difference.

Very true - thank you, commercial sector and your bribes

Seriously, though - in the past 4 years I've never seen an ARS in my more than 400 drops - but our past 4 drops recently we've seen a lot of them, and decent sizes, too.

Same SW of Clearwater in 60-70. Clear until Silt layer around 45/50, then thermo and 5ft viz on the bottom. Lots of fish, but very hard to see & shoot.

Remember...thread is about weather and visibility. Not illegal harvest of ARS in federal waters. When queried by state or local officials, they can ask for your ground track. If it shows you went into federal waters then federal rules and regulations apply. I run my charters in federal waters so I don't stop in state waters. And I have had to show the FWC my track file.

Tell me how today's track is identifiable from any other trip?
