Reverse mech shooting line routing-simplified

Been using the Neptonics reverse mech's in some of my new guns and didn't like the way the shooting line was so high up. Came up with this and I really likes how it works and looks, so thought I would pass it down. Just extend the front mech pin out about 1/2 to 3/4 inch and grind a lil notch in it! Done, and works beautifully! Peace out and dive safe all!!Click image for larger version

Very clean. Usually, it's the simpler solutions that end up the most elegant. Nice!

Re: Reverse mech shooting line routing-simplified

Great job I like it. I am thinking of doing the same as it also keeps the line away from the bands thus reducing chances of an entanglement. You also get a teeny bit more of line reach, especially if you load the line all the way at the back notch ... with added benefit that you can keep the crimp away from loading.

By the way that has to be thickest mono I have ever seen! What is that ... 600lb? I did testing on different locations of tying the shooting line, tying it all the way at the back of the shaft or at the back fin was more accurate and more consistent than tying it up front. I am not sure why but it could be because if you tie at the front fin sometimes the line can go left side and sometimes right side and thus making things inconsistent. But tying at the back notch or end of the shaft it just trails. I always prefer tying on the back notch (when possible) rather than all the way at the end of the shaft because it causes less damage to the mono.

It is 400 lb. This gun is a lot sleeker than you think, the close ups are deceiving . I do like 250 but am out. This one is most likely shooting big pargo down in Mexico so I think the 400 might come in handy! Thnx

Perfect! Simple. I was about to bend some 1/8" ss to do the horseshoe style on European guns.

Nice! Might want to consider ss cable for MX, I just lost 100+ cubera when it freight-trained 400lb mono and swam off with the shaft
