Re: roller gun question

i have done a couple that way .do the roller behind the normal band this makes the roller double as a band elevator ,and keeps the roller band from eating the normal one . also the band on a roller gun can only be loaded on the fin or notch closest to the mech

Re: roller gun question

I don't have a picture of this gun.. . But I have a picture of the pencil scketch of the muzzle.

The botom sketch is of a bracket that we made up to retrofit a wooden biller with a roller set up. These both turned out to be very versitile guns. Two band punch for flat heads and single, non roller, for crappy and perch.

Re: roller gun question

Interesting. I would fasten the front of the metal that holds the outside of the roller to the stock in some way. To the OP, please show how it turned out.

Just a question...is that drawing to scale?

With both designs the wood and or metal ahead of the roller are just there to keep the band located on the roller. I don't have either of the guns right now to take a picture of but.. . I'm putting the finishing touches on a roller only gun. If you can picture the stanless as being square rather than angled you should get the Idea.

the normal band goes on the muzzle end. if you put it on the mech side of the rollers every now and then the wishbone of the normal band will get pulled into the roller and will somtimes snag the shooting line when it dose.the normal band goes slack after 2/3 of the lenth of the gun the roller band keeps moving all the way to the roller . i found that its best to stick with one band type ,im not saying not to try it its just something that may happen.

Large gurves and shapes I shape with a belt sander. Finish sanding and shaping is all done by hand with sanding blocks and sand paper. If I'm just breaking an edge I use a loose piece of paper and "shoe shine" it

For those larger curves I always draw them on before statring. They tend to come out more even that way.
