Re: Intresting gun on craigslist

that @$%KIN sick, but why would guys on the red october need a speargun????? i could be a really well planed and constructed fake to make money. ive seen expensive "ancient" swords sell for thousands and they were fake. It could be a sceme like that. but who knows alot of us are cautious and sceptic cuz there is fake everything out there. i wouldnt be surprised if they start making fake wongs in china.

I saw it and thought it was neat. I also wonder why you would need a spear gun on a sub. I would think it was something the guy got suckered into buying while in moscow.

Looks sick, but its like... I got screwed for it, and now I want my money back! But as for why they had it on a sub...could be kinda like, why do Marines have swords? Last I checked, the Marines don't get into quarrels with Knights, Samurai's, or Ninjas. (I never checked)

Re: Intresting gun on craigslist

yeah. the reason they were given them could be a symbolic thing. You know, sub captains being like underwater hunters of the sea. But either way, definitely don't have money like that for it, and its authenticity should be proven somehow.

Re: Intresting gun on craigslist

Interesting... I've seen a few small Russian pneumatics on eBay, but they don't look anything like this one. The Russians also developed a couple different underwater firearms as did the Germans with the HK P11 and the Americans

http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg140-e.htm
http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg209-e.htm

Maybe the Russian sub captains think it's an honor to recieve an eBbay fake gun inscribed in English with Tom Clancey's ficticious name for a Typhoon Class submarine? Maybe it came with an autographed poster of Sean Connery?

I had a chance to buy a powder-charge speargun once for a $150. It could have been worth 10X by now... maybe more because it actually worked.

Re: Intresting gun on craigslist

There is no Russian submarine named Red October and it certainly isn't a "class" of Soviet submarines. What a @#$%^#%@$ joke.

We have swords for ceremonial purposes. The NCO sword is worn during ceremonies and Close Order Drill. The officers wear the Mameluke sword during the same occasions. The Mameluke sword is similar to the one give to Lt Presley O'bannon by the Pasha of Tripoli when the Marines invaded there.
