I've caught quite a few fish by hand before, but I kept them. I wasn't doing it for sport.

By hand I have caught flat fish, squid, octopus, touched (but not grabbed, poisonous spines) some species of rock fish. If the rock fish are big enough to eat, I shot them, does not make sense risking it to get away.

If i desperatly want a fish for a soup let's say...then i wouldn't risk catching it with my hands too!

Thanks for sharing, that video was very entertaining. A long time ago I hand-grabbed a nice red grouper that hid in the right spot (for me ).

I have also caught two small groupers in the past when they got stuck in a very shallow hole and had nowhere to go!Since i have tried twice catching a grouper on video and i failed both times...
