Cabo san lucas spearfishing
Hey everyone,
Im gonna be in cabo san lucas on May 15-19. I want to try shore diving. Anyone have tips or advice of any kind? I have a 110 cm railgun. I am also considering BWH for a day with one of the pangas or something. I hear gordo banks is nice. any tips on a cheap panga too? Although I'll most likely only shore dive |

I was there at the end of last year. Didn't seem like the shore diving would be very great in most areas, fish wise, if you didn't know the spots. Id think a way better bet would be to stop at a marina and find the local pangueros...

ya it depends where you're staying in Cabo and what kind of access you have. if you're at the marina i would be careful on where you dive there because of all the boat traffic. also be familiar with what you're allowed to take. if you're by the marina you should Hit up Niko at Baja spearfishing. it's a little pricy but he definately knows the spots. I'm sure he'll even tell you where you could get in on your
also trying to get in the water from the pacific side can be dangerous because of how deep the trenches are on shore that could be sure to pull you under. ( you'll see signs at most resorts explaining this.) you'll be safer finding a cove where the water is mellow enough to get in. Good luck and stay safe! -Chris |

Re: Cabo san lucas spearfishing
If you can go outside the reserve at cabo pulmo, there are some great spots.
For charters- palapas ventana, or pistoleros Del Mar. They are expensive, though. Best bet is to get a panga with a capitain that knows what he's doing. Don't pay more than $300 a day. If you do, you are getting screwed. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, I'm pretty familiar with the area. We have had our house there for over 20 years. |
