Guys, water is too hot and way too clear, and your wifes wont be happy with so many pretty girls around.
Is not worth it.

Re: Puerto Rico Blue Water Hunting

My best guess on the Jaw would be maybe be because it got speared priviously and it was a jaw shot and it ripped out?? i don't know but that would be my guess.

Re: Puerto Rico Blue Water Hunting

Went fishing again, took Elvin Peņa to his first blue water hunting experience.
He shot a few nice Rainbow Runners, these are not easy to shoot, specially in really clear waters, since they tend to apear smaller than they are, and of course they are far away from you, but he managed to shoot 2 in a row, so I thought it was a done deal when a big fat wahoo or tuna gave him a chance.
But it seems he had wahoo fever, because he had a great chance at shooting a wahoo, but some how managed to miss the shot, I wish I had my camera with me instead of the gun, he made everythig perfect, with the exeption of the aiming,
There was another guy with us, he did not jumped in, but he was all exited about seen the fish fight the buoys and the wahoos stripes when they come aboard, he was Jigging with those funy looking Jappanece deep water jiggs.
We had a lot more oportunities,we could only take 2, some of these fish are so large that you actually pull the trigger way too fast.
Next time, am taking some lemons with me in the boat, that meat is awesome in Ceviche.

Re: Puerto Rico Blue Water Hunting

They are here year long, they are suposed to be thick from
Oct-febreary, but nothing is written in stone.
This year we had Mahi Mahi all year long, thats not normal, we have a big Mahi run every year and then they are gone.
I have not being targeting the Mahis this year, but some of my friends have landed a few big ones and lots of the 15-20 pounders.

Re: Puerto Rico Blue Water Hunting

Only had time to go out a short time, so I went to
lick the bottom for a while, this snappers are a lot of
fun , they are really smart, the big one , am sure had been
chased around a few times before, he knew exactly what I wanted,
but it seems he had a taste for blue lips under a mask.
Saw a huge Cubera snapper, but I was afraid to shoot it
with my small gun, it would probably rip off and die in a cave,
one of these days...
