Sprayint with a polyurethane is the way to go. Shines better, lasts longer, applies easier. What can I say, time is money, right?

Re: boat build
You asked if polyureathane stained. No, it is about as stain resistant as a paint can get. Yes it can get things that sort of stain it, but they come right off with bleach or slight scrubbing. Jets and airplanes get black around the exhaust, and that is hard to get off, and it doesnt all come off easily, but you shouldnt have any problems with your paint, as long as the surface was prepared right! Jets and airplanes are what linear polyureathane were invented for, or at least first used on. I had a 1971 Plymouth GTX 440 magnum, that sat at the dealers lot for over a year (new) because it was green metallic, and that color wasnt a good seller. I bought it new at the year old price, and wanted it painted with a new paint called Imron and in black. The only person that could paint it was at the airport. Good paint that really shines. It shined like I just waxed it always. I have painted several cars with several different ureathane and polyureathane paints, one was with 1982 Porshe Flame Red Ditzler Delthane with hardener additive, that was about 30 years ago, but that car had a shine that was like brand new for years and it was outside most of its life. A friend used Awlgrip with brushing additive, for a boat, and it came out looking like a spray job. I busted my ass slipping on it once, and it is still shiny after 10 years or so. I guess they didnt want to tape and mask the whole thing. Your build looks fantastic. Is that hard bottom paint that you painted the props with? Should last longer than ablative paint does, which is not very long on the props.

Re: boat build
Yeah, I just painted my props and running gear, and only had regular ablative paint, splash was planned for next day, and I knew it wouldnt last more than a few 100 miles if that-at least on the props. I should have got some hard paint-next time. Keep us informed of the progress. And how that paint holds up and keeps barnacles off. Here's a picture of the bottom painted metal parts. I had to get a strut straightened-notice when I was grinding -white dust in front of strut, and had the props checked and trued, and sandblasted all the bronze parts, and should have used good stuff, but only had leftover bottom paint. Dont get on me for not doing my zincs when it was out, I dive on the boat all the time, and I didnt want to pay $16 for each zinc when I could get them for $8 later.
