Freediving Jupiter Inlet 9-10-11
Headed out of Jupiter Inlet on Saturday morning with Anthropisces, Ryfish, Killian and Jfjf. We hunted on the deep ledge, reef in 70', out in the blue water on some weed lines, and on artificial structure in ~65'. Vis was great in some places and mediocre in others. We landed several mangrove snappers, a mutton snapper and a few rainbow runners. The best fish were shot by jfjf with a 22+" mangrove and a decent mutton, well done! I had a shot at a kingfish and a nice cubera but missed, dammit! At least I get to replay it over and over as can be seen in the video footage I got of our trip - link below. Thanks guys for the fun day.

Re: Freediving Jupiter Inlet 9-10-11
that fast current and low vis on the northern spots almost had me hanging up my rob allen to pursue a hobby like PSP or xbox! i think i need to work on my meditation some more because i lost my inner "chi" that day.
sidenote: allow me to apoligize for laughing at you on the surface imediately after you missed that big cubera, it always enrages me when i DONK a shot like that and i couldnt help but throw gas on your fire Great video Paul as always, it is great watching the time we spend underwater

Re: Freediving Jupiter Inlet 9-10-11
Nice videos, good quality with the go pro, was that because of clear water or do you have some secret setup to get such a good pic.
Anyways just thought I would mention that in your keys June 11 you might want to edit out the shot on the tripltail as I believe it is a no no!! keep them coming! |

Great vid Paul! I think you need a bigger gun with a thicker shaft to take out the cube... We struck out Sunday.

Regarding the picture quality we did have some pretty good vis at a few of those spots which is this biggest factor. But another change I just made was the video editing software. I use a macbook and have been using iMovie for the last couple years. I just bought Final Cut Pro X and it is pretty awesome. There are some things you can do to enhance picture quality and you have much more creative flexibility vs. iMovie. I'm just learning it right now and have lots to figure out still but am very impressed so far. |

Re: Freediving Jupiter Inlet 9-10-11
I use a GoPro 960 on setting r3.
why the r3 setting over the r5? wouldnt 1080p be better than 720p? |

Re: Freediving Jupiter Inlet 9-10-11
r3 is the max setting for the GoPro 960. It cannot do 1080p and doesn't have an r5 setting. If you have that capability you probably have the HD HERO and not the HD HERO 960.

Nice video paul, that cube was big bro. What size gun were you shooting? your 140? the range of short railguns is a bitch with clear water

Re: Freediving Jupiter Inlet 9-10-11
Thanks Reilly - I was shooting my 140 most of the day except for that spot. Long story short I decided to use my 110 there. Could have definitely used some extra range. You are right, that clear water can play tricks with you - after reviewing the video that fish was a little further away from me than I thought.
