It's been fun Oahu. Mahalo nui loa!
Well just finishing up my off season here on Oahu and getting ready to ship out back to AK. I've been neglecting my SB account since there's soo many SPearfishing groups on Facebook meow, but here we are. I spent my off season from Fishing in AK here on Oahu. Working full time and trying to get in some decent diving. Unfortunatley it's just been a brutal winter this season with a few heavy storms that caused a lot flooding and brown water alerts that restricted me from diving much of the time. I was able to get in a few dives in here and there, luckily finding some decent fish as well. I'm gonna make this short and sweet. So I've been forced to fish out of the heart of Wakiki due to complications with my truck and limited means of transportation. This is not a very desirable location to fish by any means. Luckily with some hard work(swiming 2 miles offshore) and dedication I was able to find some structure out in that desert with some fish surrounding it. I decided that there were enough reef fish residing there to possibly attract some predetory game fish for me to hunt. After diving this hole a couple times and just feeding reef and bait fish all our scraps from the fish auction still no damn game. Sure enough the third time was the charm and every round after that We rolled up on our spot immediatly spotting a school of large Jacks!!! I took a quick breath and waded my way down to about 75' and levelled out with a 22lber I hit her perfectly just chipping the lateral line and paralyzing the fish. The following few trips to the honey hole my partners and I were able to land some nice Ukus(grey snappers) including one dinosaur of an uku @ 24lb. Since then We've again been restricted by the rain storms and I've only beeen able to get one fairly productive boat trip in and have two more lined up before I leave.
Sorry the'yre soo damn big! hahaha. I'll post our Blue water adventure soon. Shoot's~!

Rite on, the island blessed you with some Aloha! Really nice Uku. Breaking 20#'s on an Uku, with 30#'s being the WR record is difficult.

Are you from Alaska or Hawaii? You stick any pacific Halibut out there? I read in one Kurt B's write-ups about a diver pole spearing a 100#ah.

Ah long story short I'm from Hawai'i and I work in AK during the summer. I havn't had a chance to try to spear any North Pacific species yet, but I'm determined to this season. Where's this story of pole spearing a100#ah?? Halibut??

WOOOOOW that sounds like a hell of a fight. I wonder what the Vis was like on that hunt, and DAYYYUUM 480!!! My biggest was 250 last year tha i had to handline 400# braid with my fingertips cause it had snapped my clients rod... Never seen one over 300# We'll see what I can come up with this summer.
