Hogfish Regulation Change Set for Aug. 24

FWC has set the date for the bag and size limit changes as well as creating a season. Changes affect state waters in Atlantic and Gulf waters.

I hate this new rule. I'm fine with the size but I'm not okay with the bag limit.

Increase in size limit Long overdue. But the bag limits don't make sense.
25Lbs commercial trip limit = doesn't even make sense to catch them.
1 fish per day. again doesn't make sense, since the raising of the minimum size by their own admission will replenish the stocks to acceptable levels.

I am too ok with size limit and a closed season but one fish is ridiculous. I think 3 fish would be fair. Now in winter and spring time no grouper and no hogfish.....what are you going to spear?

Mangrove Snapper
Yellowtail Snapper
Mutton Snapper
Cubera Snapper
Yellowjack
Wahoo
Mahi
Permit
African Pompano
Cobia
Kingfish
Spanish Mackeral
Amberjack

I'm excited to see some actual hogfish in the future, instead of hundreds of babies.

Another fishery all but closed, meanwhile little to nothing is done about pollution, the run off, the habitat destruction. Nope, our statist overlords prefer to take away the people's rights rather than address the tough problems.

I'm sticking with my normal....Porgies, triggers, filefish, sheepshead and Bar Jacks.
