Well as of right now she is original. They asked if I was going to re-power it and I told them I was putting outboards on it.

Frankly, it's not much of a savings anyway as it is still based on the model year of the vessel. She will always be a 1965.

Re: Project Boat Discussion: Tips, Ideas, Mistakes...

It's going. Over the winter I built my kids a treehouse and so I mixed in a few days working on the boat, but really wanted to get the treehouse project done first. Of course now the problem is I'm diving every weekend. Lol

I pulled the hardtop, pulled the engines and outdrives, pulled the fuel tanks, started stripping hardware, blasted the bottom paint off and at this moment the transom is being rebuilt out of coosa. Should be done in a couple weeks.

I'm trying to close the deal on a pair of 2015 Mercury 150 four strokes. Next will likely be rebuilding the cabin and deck and getting new fuel tanks in.

I'm hoping to splash by the end of summer.

Here's some pics and an updated illustration.

There's a whole lot to like about this project. Should be a great purpose built spearing machine. Love those stringers! I'm a fan of those 150 Merc's too! Looks like solid progress, and keep the pics coming.

Thanks, Dan. I appreciate you talking me into doing it this way rather than just plugging holes and bracing. A 50 year old transom needs new bones. Not to mention she's going to look tens times better with a flat stern.

I feel confident in hanging just about anything off of it now.
