I'm done being a lurker (new member intro)

I figured I'd intro myself to the forum since I cruise by so often without contribution.

I currently live in Santa Monica and haven't speared a fish in about 4-years. I used to dive OC spots with a pole spear but since moving to LA, I've been found more on the surf than I am below the water.

Anyhow, I'm ready to bust out the ol' gear and jump in to make tacos. Any advice on what some easy local spots are? I'm targetting the easy stuff -- corbina, rock fish, etc. I see a lot of people posting about Malibu as a general spot, but what streets are specifically take? The DFG guides are beyond me. My millennial brain is quite dyslexic when it comes to longitude, latitude, and government documentation.
