Wooden speargun grips for sale from Emirates

This might be worth a look. United Arab Emirates

https://www.ebay.com/itm/speargun-wo...HCW:rk:30:pf:0

Thought it was a furniture leg photo until I looked at it a bit closer while flicking through some other auction photos.

Someplace on this site he has a Youtube of him making that grip by hand, chisel, sand paper, file etc...then the next shots are a multi head CNC machine carving out like 6 at a time. Very cool film. He also does left or right hand grips.

Where are you located and is this handle your work as I seem to sense a connection from your remarks. In the old days wooden grip handles were affixed by a metal rod that provided a central column inside the grip and this provided strength and a mechanical attachment. How is this handle affixed to the gun stock? I assume that it is glued on, but nothing worse than a handle busting and the gun butt in your face with the effects of recoil.

Doyenofcastle listed them in the for sale forum a while back. I could be wrong, but I think the idea is you cut a tenon out of that block above the grip and then you cut a mortise in the blank and epoxy it in.

currently in UAE , yes as brett said its assemble by gluing the tenon and inserted to speargun body ,I already design a tenon located in the true center and dimension is 1 in by 1 in thick/height and length is 2 in ,you need to cut a mortise with the same dimension in the center of your handle location in speargun body ,can be modified as you want its made from wood ,I tried and its fine till now ,the handle very wide from down and can be drilled and filled with lead may be up to 50 gr .

Grain orientation is going to be everything as I have seen old timber handles snap in two without a metal core, even though mortised into the stock. These guns were not made by experts, but had seemed OK for some years until they busted. A brass rod threaded on the end was often used for the core as brass does not rust and "grow" thus splitting the timber handle.

Having been whacked in the chops a couple of times, fortunately never with a grip failure, one always wants to minimize the risks of their dentist buying a new Porsche with the proceeds of their expensive dental work.

A cool 2 million bucks for one of those, now that does hurt! I remember someone saying that it was a good thing that Sharks never made it onto land when another person chimed in "what about the lawyers?"

Re: Wooden speargun grips for sale from Emirates

the handle required a Trigger guard you can check the left arrows in last picture ,

other piece is the Ballast cover ,it have advantage of add/remove the reel without drill any hole on the wood ,just machine screws with lock nuts can be used beside you can hide your lead under that cover .
