I had the same problem using loops of mono. What i do now is run the mono attaching to the leash through the mesh itself that covers the outside of the leash, when looping it around the leash. This has solved that problem.

The other problem i still have is the leash banging against the fin and making noise, not sure how to fix that and i've started threads about it on spearboard before.

Someone was bitten this weekend in key biscayne. There is a video somewhere online that shows the rescue and bite in his arm.

They showed up in full force after a few minutes.

After this experience, i increased the number of PPDs I carry and I started using a shark shield.
Holy Toledo! Would've needed some wet wipes after that. Good thing they showed up before you had a chance to string up a fish, could've been worse.

Stringing fish is just asking for trouble here. Fish get floated to the top with carter floats and hopefully picked up by the boat before the sharks get them.
