CA closed to hunting and fishing?

Just got a text from my hunting buddy. We have tags for deer and elk on Idaho this fall. He got a notice that Idaho is stopping the sale of all hunting licenses and tags. He added that CA Fish and Wildlife is supposed to meet tomorrow and decided whether or not to stop all fishing and hunting license sales in CA?
Anybody else heard this?

Re: CA closed to hunting and fishing?

Just read the article in the Sacramento Bee. Basically they want to close some inland waterways to fishing at the request of many rural government agencies worried that the influx of people from other areas will spread the virus. Best example is Mono County. The article said the town of Mammoth Lakes calls the opening weekend of trout season, “Fishmas” because of the huge influx of fishermen who flood the town and then go out fishing all the cool areas down there. They’re very worried and have asked that the season be suspended down there.
My sons took the dog to one of the local lakes the other day and said there were lots of folks fishing both from the shore and from boats. Kokanee season is on right now and that’s super popular up here, both with locals, (we have a number of professional Kokanee guides), and out of towners.
This is gonna upset a lot of people...

I really dont care what they do. There is no way you're going to force me to shop at a grocery store among the masses vs going out into the water to harvest fish while social distancing.

And thatís the thing. Up here, there are numerous lakes, streams and rivers, but only one or maybe two game wardens. I canít see that the local SO or PD are going to take time to run all over trying to enforce it. On top of that, with so many access points, I doubt a lot of people would even be aware of it.
