Fishing Closures: Stay informed read the draft documents and submit public comment !!

This morning the emergency closure of all fishing activity was upset due to a poorly designed webnar platform

well this gives all of us a chance to submit public comments

please read some of the existing public comments (at the end of the document) and the DFG staff draft proposal just awaiting the commissioners signature

that will close all fishing effective as early as april 15 and will continue till June 1st !!

Essentially this whole issue has blown up as a result of Inyo and Mono county board of supervisors writing very strong letters opposing the opening of trout season. these counties have none to few cases of COVID 19 and very ill equipped health care systems to handle a surge of infections that could result from the large influx of fisherman from LA and San Francisco. This has also now reverberated to the same problem developing in small costal towns in northern California that see the same influx of people related to the opening of salmon and rock cod season.
None of this has anything to do with the mediation measures that already exist in southern California (boat ramp, beach, state park, pier closures)

Please look at the well crafted letters written by the California Sportfishing league and the coast side fishing club/American Sportfishing association

and send a letter today !!

to the fish and game commission at

fgc@fgc.ca.gov

And again read this document!!

There are various emails, which would be the correct channel to send a email comment to?

Thanks, Joe!

This seems like such a broad brush to tackle a particular problem. And maybe the DFG is not the right entity to take charge of this?

It would seem like the affected areas could just announce the closures of the trailheads, parking lot and blah blah blah...Without taking away the fishing from the rest of us.

Joe, I heard you were real sick... I'm sorry. Anesthesiologists are so very vulnerable! Hope your recovery is speedy and complete. Tommy
