Sharks attack spear dude in S. Atlantic

If you slow down the vid it looks like he was chumming which attracted the yellowfin that he shot. And the sharks.

Glad he got away without losing some flesh.

DAMN! Can't figure out if he is stupid or a bad ass. Crazy video, I would have dropped the fish down if I had no buddies to help fend off the sharks.

It was amazing how little response the sharks showed to being stabbed in the head.

Diver was not in Mexico, Ascension Island (South Atlantic). He definitely got lucky with not getting wrapped in that birds nest of float line, etc. The lifers at Pelican Bay would be giving him props for his shanking technique.

BAMF....if I just pole speared a YFT, I wouldn't let it go without a fight either. That said, holy shit that could have gone the other way so quickly...

Ha! You're right, I was thinking of Ascension Bay.

I changed the title.

Hmmm, he brought a knife to a gunfight....but, two on one shows sharks don't play fair...imagine a line wrap on both legs and the sharks taking the tuna down deep....good lesson on why not to do one man diving while your boat drifts away and more sharks come in....I will have to remind myself of that.....There is a good mix of hammerheads, makos and some gw's showing on the SCI tuna grounds....good idea to have another diver covering your back if you are on a tunafish...

Pretty nuts. I guess it's something to think about if you are going to Pole Spear and let go the spear that it leaves you without a shark prod. I figure if those sharks had a Good Poke right from the start they would not have come closer and closer.. Also terrible boat work. Terrible line maintenance. Terrible Buddy system. Guys lucky he didn't get caught up in that line and drowned. All in all, I'd call that less of a shark attack and more of a Shitshow.
