Big Mutton

First real diving trip of this year, it's been a little rough. Got this fish this past weekend, measured 30". I put a link to my instagram with the video,

Re: Big Mutton

Beautiful Fish! I'm finding big muttons are my most challenging quarry in the busy waters of Palm Beach County. Those big guys are far too wary for my skills. Had a curious one come in while i was wrestling a big lobster out of a hole on Saturday. By the time i got the bug in the bag and picked up my gun he took off.

Re: Big Mutton

Hey guys, thanks! those big ones are definitely hard to find and even more difficult to get a shot. the low vis helped, in clear water it's more challenging. This is the second 30" I've gotten in the area,

Marco, what's up, u still diving?

Re: Big Mutton

I've only seen one Mutton of that size. I was lobstering down in the keys when a big Mutton appeared for a short instance then dissapeared just as quick. I suspected that he was attracted by the noise of the lobster being caught. Although, subsequent attempts by me to attract such fish by manually imitating such sounds with a lobster head by rubbing their testicles upon their 'scraping' substrate proved unsuccessful. I've heard that others have been successful by doing such though.

I've never tried that Marcus. I'm not surprised you had limited success.
