Just got into Maui, need advice!
I just got into Maui yesterday, staying in Lahiana. I am here untill the 6th of July. I was not able to bring any gear with me except a mask and snorkel. I have looked around at local dive charters but from what I have found it is mostly reef style spearfishing. I am an experienced freediver and I am looking for a way to get some blue water hunting in. I'm hoping to jump on a charter or a private boat if anyone is willing to let me tag along and I am willing to pay for any expenses nessesary. I know this is difficult because I do not have any gear and would need to borrow or rent a gun, float, ect. I am dying to get out on the water any help is greatly appreciated. My number is 8056984015, call or text me anytime. Aloha.

Re: Just got into Maui, need advice!
Hey Jon, Thanks for the info. Corey is my son and one of the brothers in the recent "bookend" seabass picture on your FB page. The other brother, Zack (Beau's friend), took a limit yesterday with one of your 155 mh guns. Zack is off to Dental School in a few days so Zhe wont be able to dive for at least a year if longer. Great swan song trip and he was glad to have the 155 along for the ride. I know Corey wishes he had that gun with him in Maui right now :-)

Ha! He is with his girlfriend's family. I am pretty sure he would come back alone if he took off for the Big Island. He actually went to Blue Water Hunter over there a few years ago. He goes to the sister store in Santa Barbara all the time.

Cool, Ben Zyons is originally from here in Rhode Island, but moved to Hawaii out of High School so he could Paddle in surf at Jaws.. He runs FII and Freediving/Waterman safety courses and Spearfishing trips on Maui. He has a boat. He's my old buddy from Bali. He came back to RI to visit last summer and wound up assisting me when I blacked out after a losing battle with a tuna on a reel. He's a great diver of course. He goes out regularly for Uku, Mu, and also Wahoo and Yellowfin

Re: Just got into Maui, need advice!
Thanks for the info, got in touch with Ben and he was very helpful and a super nice guy. Might be takeing me out blue water hunting soon but we are working around some weather so will have to see how it goes. At very least I can do a reef dive with him. Luckily I have another week on Maui to get a trip in. Wish I could have brought the ulusub, my brother an I absolutely love that gun and have plugged some toads with it recently as you have heard from my dad in the posts above. Thanks again!
