Spanish Mackerel heaven

I have been diving for two straight weeks and it has been unbelievable.

The first week was big game hunting and it was mostly tuna. Out of 5 days of diving I landed 4 good tuna, the largest being 194Lbs, the next 150Lbs, one 100 and a 90Lbs, along with some leopard grouper, wahoo and dorado.

The second week was with the wife and kids, so the big gun was stored away and I only took my omer MA 115 searching for fish fot the table.

The first day I just went to a breaking rock in Careyes, Jal and shot the only two mackerels I saw and a nice rainbow runner. Murky water and starting to get cold.

The next day I found heaven. As soon as I jumped from the boat I saw hundreds of macks just swimming around me. It would take me longer to load the gun than to shoot the macks I was seing. Usually, while getting the fish to the stringer I would see huge schools just swim by me.

The first day I stayed less than two hours and shot 12 shots, landed 10 macks and missed one shot.

The following day was pretty much the same thing but took some friends spearfishing and couldn't shoot all the fish I saw as I had to show them to my friend, but still managed to shoot 13 times: 11 sierras, one missed shot and one torn fish that got away.

The last day I got the largest fish but missed several shots. The safety pin was slightly engaged and that made the trigger a little harder, so I was pulling the gun up before I figured out what was happening, but I couldn't be happier with the accuracy of that gun.

Bad photo but I droped my good camera (nikon D2X) taking some pictures of my kids and it's not working any longer, so had to use the phone.
