epoxy trac help needed

Hi,
I'm playing around trying to build a speargun.
I wanna do an epoxy ET.
How wide and deep should my track be before the epoxy pour?
I'll be using a 7mm shaft
Tks

Re: epoxy trac help needed

There has been a lot of talk about enclosed tracks in here recently. I'd be willing to bet the gun you are designing doesn't need one and it will probably have a negative effect on performance. Open tracks are way easier to build especially for your first gun. That's my recommendation.

That being said, if you're determined to do an enclosed track the depth of the void really just depends on how everything lines up with your trigger mechanism. Mock it all up on the blank and get a depth figured out for where the shaft will sit when the gun is loaded, and give yourself about 5mm of extra depth. You'll want to add the epoxy in multiple pours rather than all at once, otherwise it could bubble and crack.
