Beautifull fish you've got there. Where was it shot at?

Damn sweet! Congrats. Details please. Just finished carving and eating a couple of his little brothers(Yak H&L), but nowhere near the size of that monster.

Re: yellowtail

I have one of the Ono guns without the Alexander Muzzle too. I don't think there are many of them out there.

*raises hand* I'm one of the few owners as well. Mine was been well used and recently gave it a new paintjob.

Seahunter- you ever gonna tell us where/when this fish was taken?

Re: yellowtail

Thanks for the kind words, but know I feel like an idiot.
I wanted to PM that photo to another guy on spearboad, but I did not know how to attach it to a PM so i posted it in this section. I hardly ever check this section and I thought that most other guys didn't pay attention to it either. The only reason I saw that people responded to the post was because i was going to PM the guy another picture.

The story on that fish is that I shot it on my first yellow tail trip last year. I went to san benitos islands on the horizon. I was introduced to a lot of very nice people who taught me a lot about spearfishing. Brandi Easter lent me her Wong Ono gun for an hour and I shot the fish in the picture with it. The fish was 38 pounds and kicked my ass. After about 10 min of me getting pulled underwater the fish wrapped up in kelp 50 feet down. There was a slight current and I was having a hard time recovering on the surface and still getting down to the fish before the current moved me off the spot. Finally i swam way up current and rested for about a min until I drifted back to the spot. I then swam down and started cutting the fish out of the kelp. A yellowtail at least as big as the one I shot swam right by me. I had to repeat the drifting breathing-up process a few times before I was able to get the out of the kelp. I missed the spine by a fraction of an inch; the tip just barely pierced the skin on the far side and luckily toggled on the spine.

Sorry if you thought that I shot the fish yesterday.

Re: yellowtail

Here is the other picture i was going to PM. This one is recent. I got this Puget Sound king crab a few days ago in Mendocino. It was 40 feet deep and it is only the 3rd time I have seen one in 14 years of diving.
