Charters out of SD
So I'm coming to SD early June and I'm looking to find a shoredive spot or two, but also am going to book a charter. Has anyone ever been with a spear charter out of SD? Specifically the 5 hour inshore trip around the kelp beds would be preferable as I'm not sure if I'll have time for a full day of tuna. I'll be with a buddy too so will most likely have to get on an open boat (Would be a thursday or Friday). Anyone go on some of these charter boats frequently? (Guardian, Lineage, Tantrum, etc.)
Also, any decent spots to hop in the water off the beach? I may try around La Jolla. Only will be there for a couple days so any info would be appreciated. Experienced FII Level 1 spearo from NJ. If anyone would like to meet up too, always down for that. Thanks |

The charters listed are all great options. If the tuna are in town, very likely they will be booked in advance.

Diving La Jolla can be productive but it's also busy if you go on a weekend. You can find YT, calico and sheepshead if you like that sort of thing. Make sure you have your fishing license. I've been stopped just after coming up from a dive.

Re: Charters out of SD
Yeah I'll 100% have a license. Looks like I can't really book a spot on a charter unless i book the whole boat. Sounds like for the most part I have to keep checking in closer to the date to try to get a spot. Hopefully its not too much of a pain in the ass when the time comes. Definitely looking for some shore dive spots as a backup though if anyone is down to meet up.

Brink Expeditions is a great outfit, Ryan & Co. run an impressive charter service on a nice boat.

I went with Capt. Doug last year on Zenmar Charters https://fishingbooker.com/charters/view/12339 and they put me on some big tuna last year! First class operation! Call around and see what works best for you and your budget. 619 813-9208 is there number. Make us jealous with pics when you get back!

Re: Charters out of SD
Thanks for the recommendation. I just checked out the site. Looks like they are a little more open to the open boat charters. I'll give them a call this weekend for more info.
