Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Monday... Out of anclote... west... 35' deep... viz was real hazy... 15' in the morning, 10 later in the morning...
Went to 45' viz was 12-15'

Between the 2 of us freedivers, we managed 1 gag, 6 hogs, 4 mangos, and a small Cuda... not too bad! Gags were skittish... no sharks were seen.. I'm guessing because the viz was bad... seas 2' in the morning calmed to 1' in the evening. Great day!

Viz in 15 feet of water in the Intercoastal was about 6 inches. Buddy used my 200 pound anchor we retrieved last month to keep his 30 foot Proline from washing away in Irma and had to retrieve it.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

I ran out to the RJ in 65' off Anclote yesterday.

Vis was nil, nada, zilch, zip, no go.

I couldn't see my fin tips or the tip of my gun.

I tried diving down to the wreck, but it kept getting darker and darker. Too spooky for me on a normally sharks wreck.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Went out 9/17 W of Anclote in depths ranging from 25-50 feet. Vis was not good across the board but improved slightly with depth. Spots with vis did not have fish on them. Overall a wasted day.

10-15 feet with a lot of particulate in 65-85 out of JP yesterday. Did get some nice hogs and a nice number of hogs but didn't see a keeper grouper anywhere. Lionfish stacked on top of each other. Would have been a good day to have lionfish bazooka.

We were out of JP yesterday too. Hit 77', 84', 102'. We only had about 6'-8' vis. max.. Water was dark green and gloomy looking from top to bottom. Even with the full sun. Ended up with 3 hogs and 1 five gallon bucket full of lion fish. Lion fish are stacked on the reefs. Reefs have lots of sentiment on top. Going to take awhile for everything to clean up. Didn't see any other boat the whole day. You guys were in a different area. You had a little better vis. than us. Bottom temp. was 83F.. We're going to wait awhile before trying again. No sharks seen. Of course we couldn't see too far.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

There's vis! We ran north out of Anclote and found vis and fish.

The river water was nasty. Once we passed the Tim line north, it cleared up pretty good.

Water is cooling down. Almost time for a 3mm top.

Shallow, 35-50fsw.

Tim line was supposed to be 'tide line' or 'rip line', can't remember.
