I guess you just wait until the bombs start falling to be concerned.

Russian officials on Monday also denied an ABC News report that one if their warships had docked in the Syrian port of Tartus with a squad of Russian antiterrorism marines; the report fed speculation that Russia was actively helping Mr. Assad by supplying military experts. A spokesman for the Defense Ministry was quoted by the Interfax news service as saying he was perplexed by the report, which he said might have referred to the Iman, a Russian tanker that had docked in Tartus 10 days earlier. He said security guards were aboard the Iman because it supplies fuel to Russian ships participating in international anti-piracy patrols in the Gulf of Aden.

We won't go to war with the Russians or the Chinese over Syria or Iran. We avoided war in 73 when tensions were far greater. For someone interested in so many things you don't gave a good read on the history. There is nothing in the Middle East the Russians would go to war with the US over today, the Chinese won't go to war with us because they have to much to lose. They would just throw their money around, plus their military is not even in the same class as the US and this they know.

BBC Caught In Syria Massacre Propaganda Hoax

"
The British media has been caught yet again with its pants down in the effort to sell a NATO-led attack on Syria, with the revelation that BBC News used a years-old photo of dead Iraqi children to depict victims of an alleged government assault on the town of Houla..."

What hoax?

They used a wrong photo. Are you saying the massacre didn't really happen?

NATO'S "MEDIA WARFARE": Syrian Government Blamed for Atrocities Committed by US Sponsored Deaths Squads
Houla, Syria Stunt Proves: Old Tricks are the Best Tricks

"...Image: Before and after BBC's reckless/deceitful journalism. (click image to enlarge) Notice how the image on the left is "unverified" like most of what the Western media reports regarding Syria, and that this photo was supplied by "activists" who have been revealed as serial liars (see here & here). Visit Syd Walker's blog to see the original screen grabs and story.
....

It was also during this haste to publicize and distort the violence to maximum effect, that BBC deceitfully published a photograph of mass graves in Iraq, years old, claiming as they do all their "evidence," it originated from "pro-democracy activists," once again challenging the veracity of a year's worth of claims coming from these consistently dubious sources.

It is clear that even after a typical crime, on an average day, in a stable Western nation, the police would not be able to process a crime scene and come to such quick conclusions, unless the police were crooked and already knew all the details of the crime because they themselves were personally involved.

It is clear that whatever happened in Houla is being used desperately as a point of leverage to advance the next leg of the West's insidious agenda, described in great detail by Seymour Hersh in his 2007 New Yorker article titled, "The Redirection" where an American-Israeli-Saudi plot to arm vicious sectarian extremists and unleash them upon Syria was exposed. In fact, in Hersh's article, he interviewed several sources that feared the inevitability of the very violence now seen and being disingenuously leveraged in Houla.

While some find it difficult to believe that the West would stage, promote, and/or exploit the sort of violence seen in Houla, we must ask ourselves, "is there any historical precedence that can give us insight or clues to the if's and why's?" Indeed there is...."

Re: US closes embassy in Damascus, pulls American diplomats out of Syria

Russia sending Syria attack helicopters

"WASHINGTON (AP) The Obama administration said Tuesday that Russia is sending attack helicopters to Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime and warned that the Arab country's 15-month conflict could become even deadlier.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said the U.S. was "concerned about the latest information we have that there are attack helicopters on the way from Russia to Syria."

She said the shipment "will escalate the conflict quite dramatically."

Clinton's comments at a public appearance with Israeli President Shimon Peres augured poorly for a peaceful solution to Syria's conflict. Officials from around the world are warning that the violence risks becoming an all-out civil war, with Middle East power brokers from Iran to Turkey possibly being drawn into the fighting...."

Re: US closes embassy in Damascus, pulls American diplomats out of Syria

Assad and his Alawite regime are corrupt, murderous and the very definition a tyrannical dictatorship. What's happening there is 40+ years of chickens coming home to roost. The USSR, I mean Russia is continuing to arm them because Assad is their only client state left in the region.

Re: US closes embassy in Damascus, pulls American diplomats out of Syria

Going out on a limb here.....probably too many beers.....however.....logically nothing here makes sense and Marco's conspiracy is plausible...

Logically...If you are in control and fear of losing that control the last thing you would do is bring attention and the worlds rath upon yourself by killing inocents and children.....

What do the rebels want...support and simpathy from the rest of the world and what better way to get it than by making the regime look barbaric....again, simple logic....

You can pick on Marcus all you want.... but has this not at least crossed your mind????

As a side note....I dont think that part of the world can be fixed so I really dont give a flying rats ass.....we dont need to go there.....

Re: US closes embassy in Damascus, pulls American diplomats out of Syria

If the activists are using the media to their advantage with falsified info it seems to me that the USA should take them under its wing as allies in propaganda and misinformation. They are closer to a us democracy than I thought!

Russia defends weapons sales to Syria, says U.S. arming rebels

We've have no business over there F'ing with Russia's ally in the region. Russia has been talking and fomenting military ties with China lately too.

Think maybe Obomba can get this WW3 started before election time?? If not, I'm sure Romney will finish the job. Their foreign policies are the same.

Re: US closes embassy in Damascus, pulls American diplomats out of Syria

Cold War 2.0 Has Begun In Syria

"

We noted in February:

The U.S. is supporting the Syrian opposition (and see this), considering military options for ousting the Syrian government, American allies Britain and Qatar allegedly already have foreign troops inside Syria, and the U.S. has been planning regime change in Syria for over 50 years.

Indeed, the United States is fighting on the same side as 3 terrorist groups in Syria.

Even Pat Buchanan asks:

If its good for Al Qaeda, can it be good for us?

Indeed, terrorist rebels have been responsible for much of the violence inside Syria. And outside monitors have confirmed that the situation on the ground is much different than it is being portrayed in the Western media. (And according to the large German newspaper FAZ, those recently massacred in Hama were on the same side as Syrian leader Assad).

Russia has repeatedly stated that it would consider an attack on Syria as an attack on its national security. (And Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that if the U.S. invades the sovereignty of countries like Syria, it could lead to nuclear war..."

Re: US closes embassy in Damascus, pulls American diplomats out of Syria

Syria Shoots Down NATO-Member Turkey's Military F-4 Jet

"Just when the geopolitical tensions in the middle east appeared to be abating, and Brent was on a gentle glideslope to whatever price will greenlight the NEW QE now that fears of an Iran war have been very much silenced, things change. Reuters reports that Syria shot down a Turkish warplane on Friday, according to Lebanon's al-Manar television reported, "risking a new crisis between Middle Eastern neighbours already at bitter odds over a 16-month-old revolt against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad." "Syrian security sources confirmed to a Manar correspondent in Damascus that Syrian defence forces shot down the Turkish fighter jet," the Hezbollah-owned channel said."

Here is the rub: Turkey is a NATO member, and by definition the alliance will have to come to Turkey's aid if requested. Syria, however is not just any country as has been made quite clear over the past several months of UN impotence: it is a critical staging ground for both Russia (which has a very critical regional naval base in the city of Tartus) and China, and according to the Jerusalem Post, the three countries are in preparation to conduct the "largest ever" war game. As such Syria, already gripped by fierce local fighting, where just like in Egypt and Libya the presence of US-based flipflop on the ground can be smelt from across the Atlantic, is merely a symbol. The real implication is how far can little escalations push until finally the showdown begins, with NATO on one side and Russia and China on the other?..."
