Anyone recognize this anchor????
Found a pretty cool anchor this weekend, but it is different than anything I have seen, but I am not much of a boater. It is well made from Stainless and had a lot of heavy line on it.
Skip to 2:45 to see it. I pretty much just let the video run on this dive.. My son and I were trying to spearfish in about 125 ft when the surface current was reading 3.5 to 4 mph, I should have just bailed on the dive when I saw the surface current. But I talked him into pulling the float. A major cluster trying tho get the anchor to the surface - the guys on the boat said it made it to the surface for a short time, but sunk before they could recover it. Luckily I found it back on the bottom, maybe the long rope got caught on the bottom and then sucked it back down..

Re: Anyone recognize this anchor????
My first thought was , why didn't you cut the rope off at the chain? Were you thinking of savaging the rope also?

Re: Anyone recognize this anchor????
We got it, and all the rope.. It just took an inordinate amount of effort and wasted a whole dive.

Re: Anyone recognize this anchor????
It's a wishbone anchor. Good for mud/sand and they don't pack up with grass. That point pivots and keeps everything planted. It's a hell of an anchor.

Re: Anyone recognize this anchor????
Thanks looks like it has a patent. Made in 70's in pompano bch FL. Seems very well built, I bet someone would love to get it back.

Re: Anyone recognize this anchor????
I didn't even feel buzzed. But I sure had trouble with getting air in there. Also tuned up the reg and it tended to freeflow every time I tried to purge. Did we appear obviously impaired?

Re: Anyone recognize this anchor????
You were wacked. Watch it close. You set down your gear on top of what you are about to launch. You never pull in the anchor line to even see if is caught on anything. Plus, did you even think of just cleaning up the line and making a nice bundle? Then, bag location, in hindsight (unimpaired) should be tied off to where the chain and anchor come together so you don’t have to consistently fight with the anchor wanting to dig back in. And the whole regular filling of the bag, looked a bit confused.
It was like watching one of my old DUI roadside videos when I was a public defender. You weren’t crazy out of your head, but just dimwitted, slow. At least IMO. |

Re: Anyone recognize this anchor????
Hook the bag to end of line. Make sure the anchor is not hung. Inflate bag, go spearfishing and pick up bag from the boat. Then use float ring to float anchor up with boat. Works great I have salvaged many that way plus shot several gr and sn attracted by the commotion.

Re: Anyone recognize this anchor????
In that case a little bigger lift bag to float the anchor and chain off bottom. 4 knots could be a bitch even to swim against.
