Re: a few fish from the weekend
Had to cut the day short. Lots of fish in the water though. Jake had a sinus block and got a splitting headache. Bummer for him.....lucky for the fish.

Re: a few fish from the weekend
Jake, DuQuesnay, Cesar and I headed south yesterday to what we call 5th and 6th Cuts. Jumped in at 5th cut with plans to swim to 6th, about 500 yards south. Lot of baitfish and a lot of jacks swimming by. We let most of them go but I really like eating the yellow ones. Nice flesh.
As we approached what I thought was 6th Cut, we found the usual school of dog snappers along with some smaller muttons. I got one mutton but then they disappeared. Also had quite a few small ceros cruising by so we shot a couple of those. Something didn't look right though. The dogs kept disappearing past a deep sand patch to the south. We finally followed farther and farther and the found the main rock at 6th cut....and another school of dogs. I didn't recognize where we were in the bad vis and hadn't bothered to check my GPS. Anyway, it was fun. Check out the size of the school master. One of the bigger ones I've seen here. It was a challenge though. Bad vis and they were spooky. But we got a few. Water inside the reef is still really green. I think it's a blue green. The water in our hatchery has a musty smell but, the shrimp are still doing well. |

I had another buddy but he went to work in Viet Nam on another fish farm. There's some commercial guys that use pole spears and get a lot of small fish inside the reef but the deeper spots are pretty much left alone. |
