Re: Visibility Report!!!

Capt Stacy thanks for the report. Fished last sunday, didnt dive. Water was pretty up top around 40 miles out with a 72 degree surface temp. Finally got on a good red grouper bite. Wanted to dive but with your report glad I didn't.
Did see a small Tiger Shark, around 6 feet, follow our baits up.

Re: Visibility Report!!!

Went for a quick shore dive at Frisco Pier this morning. Vis was about 6'. Water temp was cold enough for my gonads to retreat inside my abdomen. Saw tons of huge horse mullet, slot reds, and a group of 5 or so black drum ranging from 20 lbs to 40 or so. No stripers. Didn't shoot a fish.

Re: Visibility Report!!!

The only reason I went is because drum fishing from the beach it looked insanely clear (you know how that goes). It was shoulder to shoulder with guys catch reds. I had to at least attempt it. I'm sure they thought I was a total idiot. I confirmed their thoughts.

Re: Visibility Report!!!

Dove twice today off the beach. On the morning dive I saw a couple of stripers. Both looked a little short, but gave me some hope for the afternoon dive. On the second try I didn't see any shootable fish. Beautiful past couple of days for this time of year. It has been great to get back underwater. Vis once again was 4-5ft. Temp was cold as crap.

Re: Visibility Report!!!

Hatteras,

What was your gear set up like for the temp and how long could you stay in before you got the shakes?

Water temp would be nice if you can get it?

Thanks

Re: Visibility Report!!!

I wore the top half of a tore-up Omer 3mil underneath my 4/3 surf suit. 2mil gloves, and 3 pairs of crappy fin socks. I could dive for about 30mins. My face was numb, so it was hard to put my snorkel in my mouth coming up from a dive. I think you'd be ok in a 5mil freedive suit for the better part of an hour. I'm betting with this weather what little bit of vis we had will be gone though. I'll post another report when it gets semi-clear again.

I have a diving friend who did the same yesterday looking for a lost wreck and told me just the same. March is just around the corner
