Personal Bests on 6/23/18
Got the invite to head offshore deep out of Clearwater pass on Saturday SWtrly. Long run. Everyone on boat had been a tourney winner but me, so I was hoping for some real excitement. Dive one was a cloud of cuda's covering a huge chunk of something that a herd of Goliaths were guarding. Dive 2 made my day though! Came down on a small piece. My solid, experienced, commercial buddy pointed out what I thought was a small Goliath until I got closer and saw it's tail. Stoned the first Carbo I have ever seen. I don't typically dive much over 100'. This was in 145'. Weighed over 30#, over 40". So headed back up VERY happy. During my 2.5 hour surface interval, I thought only way things could get better was to get the biggest Hog I ever had gotten as we were out so deep. Dive 3 in 147' was very kind to me as well! Hog was 25.5" and over 11#. Dive 4 was shallow in 75' to finish tank and plucked off some mangos.
MANY thanks to the Cpt and crew for making it EPIC. Personal bests for me in Grouper and Hog category! Beautiful AP and huge ARS also were on board. Props to this team for making it an amazing day! |

Thank you very much all of you for the kind words. It is much appreciated. (And LOL jfjf, was thinking bout that.....but my avatar Hog is a sentimental fish. First SPO tournament. First time diving deep. Awesome Captain....but I am still considering it!)
