Actually found live bottom
We really lucked out and drifted over this area then saw the crazy sonar feedback and dropped in. It made for a great dive, we also came across a big nurse shark and a massive Loggerhead sea turtle.

Re: Actually found live bottom
Looked pretty fishy, clear and not too deep - Great!
Now about the fish handling... at 40 seconds on that gag, I would have been slamming the shaft into the bottom and pinning the fish, not lifting it up like that - was holding my breath that he didn't get off.

Re: Actually found live bottom
yeaa i was being a little reckless. I remember I was starting to worry about him tearing loose. Once I can get that good grip in the gills i'm happy.

Re: Actually found live bottom
Congrats. Nice vid. Keep that number close to your chest. Those gags acted unafraid. Also, if you want to avoid tear offs, don't grab the shaft to control. Use the line to pull it in w/ drag like a reel and then grab the fish. You'll reduce tear offs substantially.
BTW, nurse shark wasn't that big. I've had 8 footers swim up under me whilst looking under a 2.5' ledge and rip my stringer w/ fish on it off. Another one joined him. It was a mess as they tore into them kicking up sand all over. I poked the hell out of them w/ no positive reaction. I ended up w/ 3 grouper heads and a hogfish w/ a bite out of back. They are just as bad as Jewfish. Watch you six.

Re: Actually found live bottom
Thanks man i'll try that next time... That is freaking crazy! I don't suppose you have GoPro footage of it?
Most of the sharks around here are really skittish if you are on SCUBA, the only confrontations I have had with sharks is while free diving.
