2017-2018 dfg lobster regulation changes adopted!

Our SCUBA DIVING Representative just returned from the DFG meeting up North. The ADOPTED recommended changes that will affect us as Divers are as follows. These will be in affect for the 2017-2018 Season

1) The Lobster season will START on the first Saturday before the first Wednesday of October at 630 am, instead of 1201 am.

2) There will be NO SEASON LIMITS on Lobster Catch.

3) SPEARGUNS will be allowed to be carried, while diving for Lobsters. (No Holes or Distruction of Lobsters will be allowed)

Other recommendations that apply only to commercial Lobster fishermen were also adopted, but do not apply to Recreationl Divers.

I personally think we did well!:

Thanks Jimmy,

Im going to miss opening NIGHT's, I'm a creature of habit, I think the opener
take is going to go way down. Which is maybe what they want?

Oh well, such is life, change is inevitable.

There had been some proposals for a 70 bug limit, which is of course unpopular with a lot of divers.

They claim it's a safety and enforcement issue! But everyone knows how much the DFG can be trusted.

Thank you for the update. I was concerned we were going to get burnt, but not bad at all on the results. I am glad they cleared the air on the issue of diving with a gun.

I will have my first lobster by 6:31 a.m.
Then shoot a fish.
And still have time for a wank.

If you can do all 3 on a single breath you'll be a legend.

There will still be an opening night. You'll just have to wait 14 hours or so for it to begin.
