Re: dream boat
Fountain 47 lighting with triple 700 mercs.
110 mph boat with a year warranty, plenty of space and over 2000 hp. Middle grounds in an hour and more importantly, home from middle grounds in an hour.

Re: dream boat
My dreamboat isnt fast or as expensive to run but I can sleep over at my favorite dive spots and use a zodiac for holding fish. When you get older you start to slow down and like a few comforts like a hot shower,BBQ and a blender for drinks. If the economy was better we would consider a catamaran sailboat for more space, speed and running shallow areas in the keys.No need to fill a cooler with fish when you live on the boat.

Re: dream boat
Yard sale josh has the right idea with the 72' Norhavan. That is a true dream boat. Most of everybodys "dreamboat" are center consoles; why does everyone want to get wet and beat to death running to the fishing grounds?
Give me a 40ft plus down east; fuel economy, comfort, deck space, and plenty of fish hold. One of my favorites- 42' Provincial. This boat is a tank equipped with a 545 hp John Deere and all the comforts of home and does not cost a million dollars. This vessel is very stable in big seas. Might not get to the fishing grounds the fastest but when the guys in center consoles are running home Ill still be putting fish on the deck.

Re: dream boat
Most Trawler type liveaboards are pretty good on diesel(2-3 gallons per hr)unless its dual engine or turbo. They arent fast but your comfortable and can stay out for days without coming back for supplies. There are a lot of Marine Traders and Mainships in decent shape for 40-50 K in the 36 ft range. For a couple or single person that loves the water a 34 would work to live on.I talked the wife out of Trawlers for a sailboat because I like the quiet and Im cheap!

Re: dream boat
Well the OP didn't say you can have your dream boat AND unlimited free time so downeast is out.
a dream boat to me is something you can operate solo and make good time/mpg. Plus easy to trailer so you don't get bored fishing out of the same port.

Re: dream boat
A dream boat all boils down to economics. I have never been in the ocean in an oversized boat. However most mortals can only afford small center consoles. Just get out on the water however u can!

Re: dream boat
When I first got married a loong time ago we would take my 15 ft square stern canoe with a 4.5 Johnson off Dania beach and run all over Bicayne bay and never used more than 4 gallons of fuel! Some of my biggest fish were taken from canoe and Zodiacs.I still love canoeing and you can buy them used for around 300-400 bucks.Better in the water off a canoe than sitting at home.
