Freediving depth training

Does anyone else have a problem Freediving past sixty feet because of the pressure on your diaphragm? How do you fix that?

Relax your torso... It should release the tension. It's important to allow the chest to flex inward and let the diaphragm go into the chest cavity. Not relaxing will cause tension.

Re: Freediving depth training

Does this make the sucking feeling in the neck caused by depth go away too? Thanks ,

Possibly, but I doubt it. Your diaphram/lungs are very flexible, so the air inside them compresses as you dive. This is normal but can feel strange or uncomfortable until you become used to it. Your trachea (neck) is also full of air, but it is not flexible like your lungs so it will not compress the same way, and you can injure your throat if you push too deep, or if your head position is wrong when you're deep. And 'deep' for you may not be deep for somebody else or vice versa, it depends on your own personal physiology. You can develop a little bit of additional flexibility in your neck but it is a very slow process. Hook up with some experienced deep divers or take a class so you can see all this in person. And like Errol said, the more relaxed you are the better...
