Nice grouper, well done. I thought tarpon were illegal to spear, in FL at least. Anyway what does one do with 5 of those massive, foul tasting pieces of ... ? My cats probably wouldnt even touch them.

Re: Pictures

I have seen eactly one spade that big. A few weeks ago it was hanging out under a slab of roadbed. Bugged my eyes out, I didn't know they got that big. But I didn't shoot it.

What's the prefered shot placement on those big cuda? The lateral line about the top of the gills?

Right in through the top of the gill crease works for me. Stoned every time.

Re: Pictures

I'll be trying that on my next one. I've only shot one, a head shot behind the eyes. It still had a lot of fight left in it. Buddy that day also shot one, same size, same placement. Same results. I guess the brain on them isn't quite where I expected it to be. I'd like to shoot a huge one, but want better odds of a stone shot on it.

Can you post a larger image that clearly shows the hole?

Re: Pictures

I don't have enough respect for barracudas to worry about shot placement, mid body is fine.

That's my buddy Mark Pearts boat, he's the skinhead dude with the big ass snapper, in the back of the boat, the left side is the "Rok Zone" and the right side is the "Mark Zone" ,,, if I ever get bored while out diving I can actually go jogging around the deck, it's huge. Most awsome boat I've ever dove off of. Fast and plenty of room, holds almost 300 gallons of fuel and doesn't burn shit. Now, we just got to win some boat awards.
